Project Rachel is a diocesan-based network of specially trained priest confessors, mental health professionals, spiritual directors and others who provide ongoing, one-on-one confidential post-abortion care.  It’s present in 2/3 of the dioceses in the United States. It was originally founded by Vicki Thorn in 1984 and adopted as the model post abortion ministry by the United States Bishops in 2010.  The bishops see Project Rachel as an important part of the new evangelization, and they have asked that post abortion healing be included as a subject in all US seminaries.  Project Rachel was launched in the diocese of Steubenville in 2017.
